Abyss

"I sought you out coming off an affliction
and i beheld our unravelling
transfixed by the fluttering abyss
took no intermissions
nor confections
i watched,
i stayed
not for you
but for answers i never received from past "©fashionandfables

Sunday Picks

"I lined up all these words
to describe my day with hooks and cliffhangers
but the story unfolded in framed snapshot outside the boundaries of my vocabulary." ©fashionandfables

knitted dress i thrifted at Bricklane's random huge vintage sale. 10 pounds. The guy who sold it to me kept saying it's like "so Issay Miyake" i was too ashamed to admit that i couldn't quite remember what collection he was referencing... . I am slipping. I know now. That's all that matters.

experimenting with some leather and wool in "jewellery collection". I quite like working with leather. Psssshhhh don't tell PETA! It's all recycled leather anyways!

Having afternoon tea in Greenwich in a cute cafe with a DUTCH NAME! Their scones are by far better than mine. It pains me to say. it pains me. I love these scones so much that even though they have raisins, and i hate raisins, i still eat them! That's true love there people!

Thrifted this piece of jewellery at Greenwich Sunday market for 5 pounds. It's awesome! i love the chain and the colours of the pendant. The lady i bought it from explained that the pendant can be used to carry perfume. So pleased. One day i would like to venture into making jewellery with chains and pendants.

Sunday Times Style supplement and a book on aromatherapy i picked up. Since i spend so much of my time mixing oils , both base and essential ones, i thought perhaps i should stop playing it by ear or scent and get a book on the whole thing.

More of the wonderful dress!

Green wool and leather. I think this style is more wearable than my other pieces so i might stick to leather.

Ode To Blair Waldorf

Dear Blair Waldorf,
I would like you to consider taking on the role of my "Best Friend Forever."
I am normally quite against such nonsense and labels, though if i am honest i do quite like the sound of it!
Yes, but for you Blair i would wear matching hear-shaped pendants, let you braid my hair after 100 brush strokes, and keep you entertained with stories of conquests; that's what BFFs do right?
Why you may ask? Not to worry, it is not for your impeccable taste, though i do covet your wardrobe. No, mon cherie it's because you are fearless and inspiring.
You see something you want, you work hard for it , and yes, sometimes you have to scheme and crush a couple of souls to get it, tsk tsk. But nonetheless you are awesome. I like people who are inspiring. People who don't make excuses for their actions but embrace their limitations and make it into an asset. And you are freaking harsh! love it. You are like House MDbut with a better wardrobe :)
So Blair , what do you say. Let's make it official. I will throw in a shopping date? Or you can be my escort to Esthetica Champagne Brunch for London Fashion Week?
I wait eagerly for your reply

Industrie Magazine

Image from the first issue of Industrie.

As consumers, perched rows away from the backstage where all the magic happens; where masks are steamed of creases and fantasies are altered and tapered to fit just right; tight enough to keep you aspiring... it is easy to become fixated with certain ideas about the fashion industry. These notions go beyond the images of dresses we single out for purchases, hairstyles we are determined to recreate infront of a mirror and accessories we hope will keep us afloat in a tide of monotony.

It's the people behind the dream that hold our attention the most; they are the ones we build up when we flip page after page.
We are fascinated by their lives, their wardrobes, i am sure we couldn't even mind knowing their coffee order either :)

The dream makers. Or as i like to say The wizards of Oz. The truth is there are not all together that different from you, they just choose to follow a dream. Don't believe me check out "Industrie Magazine"
Founded in 2009 by Erik Torstensson and Jens Grede, the magazine is " dedicated to the culture of fashion". Rather than detailed descriptions on trends, what you get is a backstage pass so say, what you do with that pass of course is your choice. But you have a chance to read in-depth stories about buyers, designers, models and people behind the scene, to see it that although it is a very creative, inspiring and energetic industry, it is also hard work. It is at the end of the day just like any other industry; it is an industry!

The styling and presentation is clean and sophisticated, not to the mention high calibre of writers that hoist it way above most publications (hire me, hire me you can have locks of my hair. jokes jokes) The second issue is currently out. Check it out. Yes it cost like a week worth of nuts at Holland & Barretts but it is pretty mon amis. And i am a sucker for a pretty face :)

Pixie Spectacle.

"I want to see these great heights you have been concealing
underneath that dark charming cloak you dangle infront of me...
i want to see what you see when you fix your eyes on me "© fashionandfables

So my dear readers i cut off all my hair again. I know. I know. but why? But why not. I have different versions depending on who is asking... But for you, my dear readers, the truth: I was lazy that monday night and couldn't bear detangling my quite tangled hair after a night out and i thought you know....... also i saw pretty pictures of women with cute teeny weeny fros..
I think this might be the last time....I swear.
Cuz i don't actually remember what it's like to have a Big Bad Afro like i did in my pre/real-life-drama teens. Also, I have been told it's only cool after the first time, and i believe i am on number 4 or 5....Lost count. And above all, one most always strive to be cool. Ice cool :)

I quite like it. So easy, step out of the shower, some conditioner , some herbal spritz and i am out the door.... well, technically i sit infront of my desk and work!
But I was thinking, new hair deserves a new pair of glasses..;.So i have been window shopping.
The selection above is from Specsavers. But only in Holland! Yes, it's a collection designed by top model Kassandra Schreuder. I am saddened. But i was thinking of planning a trip home just to buy a "broodje haring met extra uien" so i might just get the last pair while i am at it!

till next time readers. And i am back now. So expect me on a daily basis. Also starting a new blog as a platform for the long-awaited project..... my lips are sealed.
xoxox (the gossip girl way)
Oh Oh, where are my manners: Happy Valentine's Day. I personally love Valentine's Day. Regardless of whether or not i am in a relationship or not. I just like it. I have been buying myself a Val- gift since i was 13. I love myself what can i say :)
But seriously, i like it. I like that people take a day out to celebrate love. Yes they might be faking it, pressured into it and whatnot. But they are. And i like to see people happy in love, it reminds me that it is possible. I always like to be reminded.
